This presentation details OECD's Getting Skills Right project. It highlights OECD Skills for Jobs indicators and skills needs indicators, skills shortage index; cognitive skills in shortage, routine/manual skills in surplus, and knowledge shortages in specific areas. It identifies similar patterns across countries that are more pronounced over time and that many workers are mismatched to their job. The presentation also addresses the key question of what can be done to better align the supply and demand of skills with several key recommendations including work-based and lifelong learning as well as the coordination and implementation of these training programmes.
